Uwe Rosler made his first signing as Fleetwood head coach yesterday and it is understood the club is close to securing another new player.

Burnley striker Chris Long is Rosler’s first deal and the forward reportedly turned down Town’s League One rivals MK Dons and Bradford City to join Fleetwood on a season-long loan yesterday.

The 21-year-old is Rosler’s first signing of the summer as he prepares to make his home league debut against former ex-Fleetwood manager Graham Alexander’s Scunthorpe side at 3pm today.

Alexander’s replacement Steven Pressley brought in 10 players early before his shock resignation at the end of July.

Rosler took over 12 days ago and has took his time to assess the squad before dipping his toe in the transfer market.

And he was delighted that newly promoted Burnley trust the club to nurture the talents of England U20 international Long.

He said: “We are delighted to have been able to bring Chris to Fleetwood Town, he turned down many other options to join us.

“He’s a player I’ve known for a long-time and is someone I actually tried to sign when I was manager of Wigan.

“Our technical director (Gretar Steinsson) has been working on the deal for a number of months and I am delighted we have finally been able to bring him to Fleetwood Town.

“Chris fits our profile, he’s a versatile player who can play right across the front three and we are excited by the signing.

“He has the quality and personality to fit into what we are trying to achieve here at Fleetwood Town.

“I’d like to thank Burnley football club and Sean Dyche for trusting us with one of his top talents.”

It is understood Fleetwood are in talks with another Premier League club about a player.

Speaking on Thursday Rosler said: “I have been working on certain things.

“That is all that I can tell you. Where we are now, the end of the transfer window more and more players become available for loan or also a permanent deal.

“Prices will fall, which for our club is very important that we recruit in our budget.

“We are working intensively on one or two scenarios. Will they come off? I can’t promise you that.

“We are not the only club in the market for that sort of players but I will be confident that the effort that (technical director) Gretar and (scout) Steve Davis put in that we will be in the end successful.”
