Fleetwood Town boss Graham Alexander has made Bury skipper Steven Schumacher his second high-profile capture of the summer.

The two clubs have agreed an undisclosed fee for the 29-year-old former Everton trainee and England Under-19 player - who has signed a two year deal.

Schumacher scored 10 goals for the Shakers last season as they were relegated from League One in the shadow of a financial crisis.

The former Crewe and Bradford midfielder is delighted with the move.

He said: “The ambition of the club and where it sees itself in the future was a big
attraction to me coming here.

“There is a lot of drive at Fleetwood and I want to bring my own influence to what happens on the pitch next season.

“Hopefully I can come in and be an influence on the pitch, be a leader out there and if I can contribute goals, great.

“I’ve got more than 300 games under my belt – there’s a few clubs in there – and I’m looking forward to bringing that experience to Fleetwood.”

Alexander was delighted with the deal.

He said: “Steven has come in and will be a great addition to the squad.

“He has great experience of winning at this level and of promotion. He scored 10 goals from midfield last season and brings leadership qualities as well.”
