Fleetwood Town hardly broke a sweat as they cruised to victory over rock-bottom Northampton.
Town had the better of the early exchanges and had an early chance when Jon Parkin slipped the ball through to Jamille Matt, a slip from the striker denying him a run on goal.
They did, however, grind down the Cobblers and took the lead mid-way through the first half.
Steven Schumacher saw an opportunity to release Gareth Evans through the middle, the winger with a composed finish to beat Matt Duke.
And there could have been a second before the break, Parkin with great determination to pull it back at the byline, Matt unmarked at the back post heading over from barely a yard out.
Town struggled to get out of first gear for much of the second half but finally got their second breakthrough with 11 minutes left.
Parkin was released down the right, driving into the box and looping a cross to the back post for Evans to calmly head home.
