THE gas storage plans by energy firm Canatxx will be given the run-through by Wyre Council next week.
Wyre is to consider its response to the Canatxx’s planning application on May 12.

A special meeting of the council’s planning committee will be held at Fleetwood’s Marine Hall at 6pm to discuss the proposal to create underground caverns for the storage of gas, together with associated above and below ground works within the Fleetwood peninsula and the Preesall area.

Members of the public are welcome to attend and will have an opportunity to address the committee for a maximum of three minutes each to express any views on the proposal.

Garry Payne, director of Planning and Regeneration for Wyre Council, said: “It is important to point out that we will not be determining the application, as this is a matter for Lancashire County Council.

“However, as one of the consultees, the views of Wyre’s planning committee will be passed on to the county council for them to take into account when they formally consider the application in due course.”
