POLICE are concerned about a spate of vehicle crime in the Hambleton and Pilling areas.

They are concerned that a number of vehicles targeted in both areas have been 'easy targets' for opportunist thieves, who are taking advantage of insecure vehicles with items of value being left on display.
Vehicle owners should be aware that criminals are attracted to low crime rate areas, where complacency invariably leads to parked vehicles being left unlocked, especially on driveways.
Community Beat Manager PC Kev Berry is advising people to safeguard their property and in the case of vehicle crime, to make sure when they leave their vehicles unattended, they have first concealed are removed valuables and secured the vehicle properly.
Would be thieves will generally target insecure vehicles, rather than risk detection by setting off the alarm or by the sound of breaking glass in quiet locations.
