TWO Poulton primary school pupils have won prizes - by making sure they are safe on the busy roads.
Megan Eaves from Poulton St Chad's and Dylan Thornton from Carr Head took part in the Be Safe Be Seen road safety campaign over the winter.
And their good safety sense meant they were the lucky winners of a Simpson table-top pinball game and a digital camera.
The pair won the prizes for work undertaken in the campaign organised by Lancashire Road Safety Partnership and delivered locally by Poulton Community Beat Manager PC Dave Key.
PC Key visited the schools and gave a talk about how to cross the road safely and how to be seen clearly on the dark winter nights.
The children took part in practical exercises on where and how to cross the road. They were also given a highly visible safety sticker to put on their coats or bags to help them be seen in the dark.
PC Key and his Police Community Support Officers Juliet Duffy, Caroline Hoover and James Horton revisited the schools to see if the children were wearing their badges - and Megan and Dylan were!
PC Key said: "This is the fourth time this campaign has been run in Poulton. The children love the practical exercises of how to cross the road and it highlights the need to be seen to keep safe during the dark winter nights.
"My thanks go to David Halsall for providing the gifts we have given the children."
