WYRE police are urging the public to become crimefighters as part of National Neighbourhood Watch week.

The area has more than 180 Neighbourhood Watch schemes covering more than 7,000 homes but local administrator Tina Pook wants neighbourhoods to set up new schemes.
Two new ones were recently launched and more are being planned with Mrs Pook keen to target under-represented areas in order to increase the Neighbourhood Watch coverage.
She said: "We are committed to working in partnership with the community and Neighbourhood Watch groups are one of the most important and well-established organisations with whom we can work to reduce crime and the fear of crime.
"Everyone knows that police are there to fight crime, but they need the community's help."
Neighbourhood Watch co-ordinators encourage their members to report crime and suspicious incidents.
They attend quarterly meetings with other co-ordinators, police. They also have monthly visits from police.
More details available from Mrs Pook on (01253) 604341.
