THE distraught mother of a missing Poulton man – who was left brain damaged after a car crash – is pleading for him to get in touch.
David Thomson has been missing since Saturday and his worried mother, Maggie Hanson, has admitted she now fears the worst.
Mrs Hanson has spoken of her worries he could have amnesia and has not been in touch and does not know who he is.
The 26-year-old of Nightingale Drive, who takes medication for severe migraines, has relied on care from his mum since he was seriously hurt in a car crash on Singleton Road near Weeton in October 2005 which left him with a brain injury.
Mrs Hanson, 57, of Kingfisher Drive, said: "Until Thursday I had seen David every single day for the last four years.
"He would contact me a minimum of three times a day.
"It's so out of character for him not to be in touch.
"You imagine every scenario as a mother.
"He's got a brain injury – he is always at risk of having an epileptic fit, maybe he has had a migraine and has lain down to try and sleep it off, maybe he has fallen in the river. I don't know what has happened.
I just want him to come home or to contact the police.
"The only reason he hasn't been in touch is because he doesn't know who he is or where he is.
"He wouldn't stay away for any other reason. There have been no rows, no arguments.
"He's had total support from us, we are always there for him."
Mr Thomson was last seen by his girlfriend at his home on Saturday evening and then by a friend in Bispham around 9pm the same day.
He sent his girlfriend a text message at 1.20am on Sunday but police say it was "quite jumbled".
His blue Vauxhall Astra van, which he bought on Friday, was then found abandoned just off the A6 in Scorton on Sunday morning.
Det Chief Insp Neil Gregson, who is leading the investigation, said: "As time has passed our concern has risen considerably because of David's condition and vulnerability.
"There's no evidence he's been the victim of foul play or serious crime. He's apparently completely disappeared."
Police are conducting fingertip searches through fields near where his van was found and are also speaking to Mr Thomson's friends to try and piece together what has happened.
He is described as 5ft 8ins tall, white, with short brown hair and blue eyes. He could be wearing a black hooded top, dark blue jeans and black Rockport boots.
Anyone with any information should contact Fleetwood Police on (01253) 876611 or (01253) 604378 or Crimestoppers 0800 555 111.
