THE Poulton Photographic Society will hold its annual exhibition at Poulton Library next week.
The society, formed in 1966, has around 80 members and everyone has the chance to exhibit their work, which includes a variety of portraits, townscapes, travel images and wildlife shots.

The exhibition runs from August 23 to September 12.

Joan Gaffiney, secretary for the exhibition, said: “Many different styles and abilities will be on display this year. The society is open to everyone of any age across the Fylde and we hope to exhibit the broad range of talent we have in the exhibition.”

Also included in the exhibition is the residents’ competition, open to non-members of the society who, if lucky enough, will not only win the title, but also have their photo on display all year at the library.

Society member Ray Wilson added: “With the digital revolution, many people now have access to cameras like never before. Photography is no longer messy or time-consuming, but is accessible to all with many creative opportunities.”

Recently, member numbers have risen due to a renewed interest in the subject, which many contribute to the sale of cheap digital cameras and camera phones.

“We have also seen lots of new female members join, as in the past, photographic clubs were largely male dominated,” added Ray.
