Las Vegas came to Fleetwood when older residents at housing scheme Wansbeck House enjoyed an afternoon of casino-style entertainment thanks to housing provider, Regenda.
The party was the idea of Regenda’s human resources team. Ruth Blunt, human resources and payroll advisor said: “Working in Regenda’s HR department we rarely have the chance to meet residents.
“As part of our development as a team we asked if we could spend some time getting to know them and learning about their lives.
“We were set the challenge of organising an event at Wansbeck House, an independent living community in Chatsworth Avenue, which our residents would enjoy, and which would give us the opportunity to have a chat and have some fun too.”
Members of the six-strong team talked to residents and scheme manager Mal Hughes to find out what sort of social events they enjoy. The scheme was an ideal choice as Wansbeck House already has a very lively social calendar.
Mal said: “We came up with the Las Vegas theme because we knew the residents enjoyed dressing up and we could play casino games such as blackjack and roulette.
“We also held a quiz, which everyone enjoyed, and singers Becci Clark and Scott Cooper provided live music.”
Jim Tilley, 78, a resident at Wansbeck said: “Everyone had a great time and I think it’s the best party that we’ve had here.
“We’d love the team to come back and put on another party.”
The Regenda team even managed to get sponsorship for the event from Copyrite and a golden ticket hamper prize and raffle prizes were donated by Fleetwood Town FC and many Fleetwood and Wyre firms.
The Regenda Group has more than 12,000 properties across the North West providing homes for more than 25,000 people.
