A RESPECTED car salesman who was well known in Fleetwood has died at the age of 63.

Eric Porter who was born and went to school in the town, ran his own car sales business for most of his working life in and around the Fleetwood area.

The family man first started his business at the former BOC in Cleveleys where he was the longest stand holder for 30 years.

He had many regular customers throughout his time selling cars and when BOC closed he continued at other garages, the last one being in Kemp Street. Aside from his work he was a keen sportsman in his younger days, particularly football, cricket and tenpin bowling.

He loved a game of golf and had fond memories of his times on the course, particularly a ‘hole in one’ at Poulton Golf Club.

Eric leaves his loving wife Elaine, two daughters Jane and Caroline and grandaughter Caitlin, mother Elinor, brother Walter, sister Susan and two son-in-laws Chris and Mark.

A family member added: “Eric was a very special man and many people knew him in and around Fleetwood. “He will be sadly missed by his family and for sure he will never be forgotten.”

Eric’s funeral took place at Carleton Crematorium.
