A border collie believed to have escaped from its owners garden was rescued by firefighters.

The pet was trapped behind railings and entangled in brambles close to the railway line behind Baines Endowed Primary School in Thornton.

A crew from Bispham was called out around noon by a member of the public, with the dog's owner also there when they arrived.

It wasn't hurt, and has now been reunited, a spokesman said.
