THERE will be a major town-centre facelift for Fleetwood with painting and planting projects to give the port a fresh look in time for Tram Sunday.

Fleetwood Town Council, is being asked to splash the cash as part of a Pride in Fleetwood campaign in conjunction with Wyre Council.

Areas ear-marked for improvement include Euston Park, Lord Street and areas around Pharos Lighthouse and the town’s two main public clocks.

Community payback workers would be involved in much of the labour and there would be a major effort to enhance the whole town ahead of the annual transport festival.

Euston Park would see repainting of gates and lamp posts as well as cannon and anchors which decorate the park.

Town councillor Terry Rogers has been talking to Wyre bosses about the project in time for the Transport Festival on July 17.

He said: “We’re expecting in excess of 25,000 people for the festival and it’s a good opportunity to sell the town. “These are just the sorts of things a town council should be doing.”
