Members of the town’s Promote Fleetwood group have been assured they will be consulted before any final plan for how £1.5m will be spent on the seafront.

The group, which encompasses several organisations with a common interest in Fleetwood, met to discuss issues including the Coastal Communities funding, which will bring new investment to the town’s coastline.

Promote Fleetwood member Bob Boal said: “Michael Ryan, Wyre Borough Council ‘s corporate director of people and places, came along to the meeting and explained how the money was going to be spent.

“We will be invited to see the finalised plans, which was good news. Some
expressed concern about the skate park and its design in the garden area, which could attract noisy youths.

“It was also mentioned that some of the money could be used to landscape in front of the new sea wall.”

Wyre Council said part of the ecology zone
element within the Five for Fleetwood project will be some work to reinstate flora and fauna in the area .

Money was also still being sourced to pay for a crest displaying the Onward symbol.
