FREE: Jurassic Experience, Blackpool, Saturday July 2

Get up close and personal with walking, talking, roaring dinosaurs with the Jurassic Experience at St John’s Square in the town centre, from noon until 4pm.

Visitors can stroke a baby dinosaur and watch a baby hatches from its egg, Meanwhile, Rex and Spiney will roam the streets.

Dinosaur movies will be shown on a giant movie screen.

FREE AND PAID: Hambleton Gala, Saturday July 2

The annual gala kicks off at noon, with a wellies and watering cans-themed procession from Hambleton Village Hall, leading around the streets of Poulton. Families can then gather at Bob Williamson Park, where there will be a host of fun, including stalls, a tug of war, a football tournament, fairground rides and fancy dress.

Entry to the park is £1 per person.

PAID: Symphony at the Tower, Hoghton, Friday July 1 to Sunday July 3

A three-day musical extravaganza, headlined by Will Young and Joe Bonamassa, will be held at Hoghton Tower.

Pop Idol winner Will be perform on Friday, whilst Saturday will see US blues and rock musician Joe Bonamassa take stage at one of his five UK dates.

The event will close on Sunday with the Symphony Spectacular – a classical Proms-style concert for all the family to enjoy – going back to the roots of the original event featuring a live orchestra, picnics, family fun and fireworks.

FREE: Wrea Green Field Day, Saturday July 2

Schools and community groups will take part in a procession, led by the chosen Queen, at noon from the Village Green. Families can then enjoy activities on the green, including a fancy dress competition, Morris dancing, a fun fair and a farmers market. A sports competition is limited to the residents and those who attend the school. However everyone is welcome to enjoy the other attractions for the event.

FREE: Family Learning is Fun Day, Chorley, Saturday July 2

Lancashire Adult Learning at Lancashire College, in Southport Road, will be open from 10am to 3pm, for the fun day.

The event will include summer family crafts, a DJ and entertainment, a bouncy castle, face painting, a treasure hunt and a drawing competition.

Youngsters will also have the chance to take part in a series of engaging challenges – from building a tower out of spaghetti and marshmallows, to building a bridge using K’NEX.

FREE: ’Owd Nell’s Craft Beer & Bourbon Festival, Friday July 1 to Sunday July 3

Live music will be played on the Canalside Stage on Friday and Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon for the Craft Beer and Bourbon “Wild West” Weekend. The Canalside outdoor American bar will be open, with a great selection of craft beers, American wines and the best bourbons. There is also a chance to ride the ‘ole Red Bull. Entry is free, with the option to buy food and drink.

FREE: Ingelton 1940s weekend, Friday July 1 to Sunday July 3

Ingleton, in North Yorkshire, will step back in time for their 1940s weekend as a celebration of the music and fashion of a bygone age. Taking transport as their theme, villagers are inviting car lovers from far and wide and are predicting a huge turnout.

There will plenty to see including a Battle of Britain memorial flypast, a parachute display and the Thwaites Dray.

FREE: Fleetwood Scale Regatta, Sunday July 3

Families and boat enthusiasts are invited to attend a regatta for scale model boats of all types, which use power and sail, at Fleetwood Model Yacht Lake, in Laidley’s Walk, on Sunday. This event, organised by Fleetwood Model Yacht and Power Boat Club, is free to spectators and will be open from 10.30am until 2.30pm. Competitors will be there from 10am.

PAID: Classic Cars at Leighton Hall, Sunday July 3

More than 400 classic cars, motorcycles, stationary engines, commercials and vintage tractors will be on show. There will also be trade stands and an autojumble. With parades, running commentaries throughout the day, judging of the classes, competitions and prizes galore, this is a great day out for the whole family.

Admission is from 10am until 4pm with adult tickets £6.50 and children £2.50. Under 7s are free.

FREE: Summer Art Fair, Samlesbury, Sunday July 3

Hopeful and Glorious Art Fairs brings together brilliant artists and makers at Samlesbury Hall, from 11am until 4pm.

There will be a more than 30 stalls of great quality, original locally made art, craft and design situated throughout the ground floor and courtyard from 11am until 4pm. There will also be family art activities and storytelling for youngsters.
