THE owner of an animal sanctuary which was devastated by a blaze has praised fundraisers from Fleetwood and Cleveleys who have offered their support.
Easterleigh Animal Sanctuary in St Annes was badly damaged by the blaze in March, and 20 animals were killed.
The worst affected part of the sanctuary, which looks after everything from horses to rabbits, was a quarantine building which will cost thousands of pounds to repair and refurbish.
But in the midst of the devastation, owner Mandy Leigh says she has been heartened by the sterling fundraising endeavours of local animals lovers.
In Cleveleys, the Windmill Art Society raised £700 from a raffle at the Carousel Cafe on Kings Road.
And Fleetwood PCSO Linda Matthews is well on her way to reaching £1,000 with helping from local traders, Fleetwood Town fans and pupils of Fleetwood High School.
Mandy said: “The support I have received has been amazing and it has really helped me through what happened.
“People have been really thoughtful and generous.
“Linda Matthews and everyone on Fleetwood have done so much, and so have the Windmill Art Society.”
Re-building work is already under way to re-build isolation pens, while sinks, horse coats, blankets and bedding need to be replaced.
