Teenagers Susannah Green and Jasmine Noden can breathe easy after their most recent exam pass.

The plucky duo, who both attend Fleetwood’s Rossall School, have earned the Professional Association of Diving Instructors’ Open Water Diving qualifications, following lessons in Rossall’s indoor pool.

The training course, managed by Blackpool Area Divers, was arranged by the Friends of Rossall School organisation and attracted great interest from aficionados of the life aquatic.

The training involved practical work in Rossall’s 25-metre heated pool, followed by theory tests, also staged on the school campus.

Susannah, from the Rossall area of Fleetwood and Jasmine, of Thornton, threw themselves in at the deep end and were the first two school pupils to gain the diving qualification, which now gives them the opportunity to undertake dives unsupervised in fresh water or in the ocean.

Susannah said: “It was great to learn in the safety of the school pool but Jasmine and I can’t wait to test our new skills with a dive in the sea.”
