Visitors to Stanley Park will soon be able to test out their head for heights as these photographs show.

Work is now well under way to build a £320,000 high ropes adventure course at the park.

The structure, rising to 11 metres in height, will include a zip wire, bridges, a rock climbing wall and obstacles.

It is set to create an adrenaline-fuelled new attraction for the park when it opens later this month. Blackpool Council has borrowed the cash for the project which is being built next to Blackpool Sports Centre on part of land which was previously the site for the council’s greenhouses and a car park. The high ropes course will be eight metres high, while there will also be a four-metre low course, both of which people can use to take part in aerial trekking.

Construction has been carried out by experts from Dorset-based JMA Adventure.

Admission prices will start from £8 per person and the course will be suitable for anyone over the age of five.

As well as individuals it is hoped to attract groups for team-building exercises and educational events.
