The choosing event is open to any girl who lives in Fleetwood and is aged between seven and 13 years old.

It takes place at Fleetwood Workingmen’s Club on Sunday March 22 at 2pm.

The judges are looking for the new queen, four princesses, a Prince Charming and a page boy.

Carnival committee spokeswoman Ann Hanvey said: “If your daughter would like the chance to be crowned queen of queens, please come along to the event.”

The current retinue – queen Jessica Hover, princesses Molly Cox, Alysa Steel, Charlotte Kennedy and Jenna Bailey – have had a busy year.

They recently entered the Queen of Queens’ competition which was hosted by Staining and Normoss Gala Committee and it was Fleetwood’s Jessica who won the title.

Karen Kennedy, one of the organisers of the choosing event, said: “As well as having the privilege of leading the parade on Carnival Day, the queen and her retinue will be invited to various different events across Wyre and the Fylde, representing their home town.”

Mrs Hanvey added: “We would also like to invite wheelchair users, mobility scooters and mums pushing buggies to decorate your wheels and join our big parade on Carnival Day.
