Smartly dressed in their recognisable red uniform, Fleetwood Old Boys Band practice their notes at the first meeting of the year.

The big bass drum, the bell-lyres, glockenspiels and bugles were all being finely tuned ready to learn some new tunes.

They have an exciting line-up for the coming year and are looking for new members to get on board.

One new member turned up for the first meeting, but more are needed to take the band forward.

Age is no limit, young and old are welcome and, despite its old boys’ name, female members are welcome.

Dave Morris, a former Fleetwood sea cadet and a member of the band for the past five years, said: “We have quite a few female members now and our youngest player is 19.

“We can teach members how to play instruments as well, there are some exciting times ahead.”

The band has plenty of events penned in the diary for the coming year, including private events such as birthdays and anniversaries.

To get involved, the band meets every Wednesday at 7.45pm at Fleetwood Conservative Club.
