A man in his 90s had to be freed from his car by fire crews after colliding with a vehicle and a garden wall.

Two crews from Fleetwood Fire Station were called to the incident around 10.45am today.

The man, driving a Toyota Carina, collided with a parked Ford Fiesta in West Gate, Fleetwood, before knocking through the wall.

Station manager Steve Chappell said: “The front end of the driver’s car went through the garden wall.

“He was taken to hospital. It is possible there he had an underlying medical condition.

“He was not trapped as such in the car, but due to his age and the impact there was potential he may have had further injuries.

“We took the roof off the car and brought him out on a long board.”
