The wraps have come off the brand new gym at Poulton health and fitness centre.
As part of a major redevelopment, Wyre Council and the YMCA have invested heavily in cardio and resistance equipment which personalise workouts, track results and even integrate with individual programmes away from the gym courtesy of a mobile app.
The centre now boasts 49 fitness stations.
Integrated TV and internet features are also built in.
And for added motivation, the Synrgy functional training system means they can join in live group workouts with YMCA instructors in the gym.
A new purpose -built fitness studio is also now open, bringing everything under one roof for the first time and hosting classes from spinning, kettlebells and insanity, to Pilates.
This is the first phase of the multi-million pound development that will also see a spa, beauty and relaxation centre open early next year.
Coun Lynne Bowen, cabinet member for leisure at Wyre Council, said: “We promised to reinvent leisure by investing in our Poulton and Thornton centres, so it’s only right that we fill them with equipment offering something a little bit different.”
Meanwhile, work continues to build a new bowling alley, extreme sports facility, 3G pitches and fitness suite at Thornton, which is expected to open in the New Year.
