A CLEVELEYS community centre has unveiled a shiny new look – and also has a new name.
The former Frank Townend Centre has been re-branded as Cleveleys Community Centre and Church.
Trustees hope by giving the Kensington Road centre a new name and a lick of paint they can attract new members.
Trustee Peter Hutton said: “The name was quite old so we thought a change may be a good thing. We have started redecorating inside and changed the centre around a bit which we hope will get more people in.
“After Christmas we are setting up a youth centre so young people in the area have somewhere to go. We hope that may also bring more people into the church and get youths off the street.”
Last year Wyre Council decided to share the running of the centre -– originally Beach Road Primary School – with the church to reduce costs.
The centre hosts a variety of groups including residents groups, police and public meetings, and even dog obedience classes.
Family services are held every Sunday morning at 10am. Anyone interested in becoming a member should contact: (01253) 863369.
