Neighbours tell of gunfire shock on street
Rockville Ave, Anchorsholme, scene of a shotgun incident. A bullet hole in a window of the house where the shooting occured.
A COMMUNITY was left in shock after a gunman opened fire on a Fylde coast home.
Horrified neighbours living on Rockville Avenue, Anchorsholme, today described the terrifying moment the shooter unleashed three rounds at the house before jumping in a car and speeding off.
A man was injured by flying shards of glass during the shooting which took place at around 4.50am yesterday.
The home’s two occupants, a man and a woman, were inside as the front door and a bathroom window were peppered with holes from what police believe was a shotgun attack.
A 38-year-old man was later arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and remains in police custody.
Detectives, who said the suspected gunman was believed to be known to the occupants of the house, today issued a plea for information from the public.
John Standaloft, 76, lives opposite the house and was woken up by the gunfire.
He told The Gazette: “We thought someone was drunk outside our house when we heard shouting but then there was three loud bangs.
“I looked at the window and saw a man running down the driveway with a shotgun which he threw in his car and then drove off.
“It was pretty shocking and both my wife and I thought he was going to come to this house when he was finished. Neither of us could get back to sleep after it happened and we can’t stop thinking about it.”
Anyone with information can contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
