FLEETWOOD now has a permanent monument to mark last year’s proud 175 landmark.

Fleetwood’s big anniversary may have taken place last year, but there was enough surplus cash in the organisers’ funds to enable a lasting tribute to the occasion.

Margaret Lund, chairman of the 175 Committee, unveiled the stone jointly with Margaret Daniels and Doreen Lofthouse, chairman and honorary president of Fleetwood Civic Society.

Mrs Lund said: “This is the culmination of a great year and a lasting reminder of Fleetwood’s heritage. The enthusiasm from local people for 175 was tremendous.” FOR THE FULL STORY, SEE THIS WEEK’S WEEKLY NEWS
