A FLEETWOOD lady who emigrated to California in the sixties has died at the age of 74.
Margaret Patricia Hibbert, known to everyone as ‘Pat’ passed away suddenly in Long Beach Hospital on Friday.
She left Fleetwood with her husband Derek in 1964 to make a new life in the golden state.
They settled in southern California, where Pat worked mainly as a barmaid whilst bringing up their four children, Stephen, Michael, Christopher and Megan.
Despite a new life, the grandmother-of-five never forgot her roots and made many trips across the Atlantic to visit her Fleetwood family, particularly sister Janice and brothers Ken and Peter who all live locally.
Brought up in Shakespeare Road Pat attended Manor Road School, Milton School and Bailey School. A family member said: “Pat was one of life’s gems, genuine and full of heart. She will be missed by all who knew her.” A private family memorial service takes place in Thornton on Saturday to coincide with a service in California on the same day.
