But the bizarre attempt to evade detection by Thomas Cadden failed when an officer walking along the top of a seven foot tall brick wall spotted him cowering in a corner.

Cadden, 22, of Victory Road, Blackpool was arrested, and admitted breaching a court order forbidding him contacting the woman.

Blackpool Magistrates sent him to Preston Crown Court for sentence.

Pam Smith, prosecuting, said officers were tipped off Cadden was with the woman in defiance of the order, and when they got to her flat in Fleetwood they found him there.

Cadden at first evaded arrest by scrambling out of a first floor window, despite the attempt of one police officer to hold on to his leg.

She said: “He escaped and ran off along a wall.

“One officer chased him, and eventually found him in the yard holding the bin lid over his head.”

Meanwhile, the woman was found in a shower cabinet dressed just in her underwear.

She was in court when Cadden was sent to the higher court, and remanded in custody.

She had to be removed by security staff when she made a foul-mouthed outburst at the magistrates.
