Man found in street with slashed throat

A man was found unconscious in the street with cuts to his throat after an alleged assault.

The victim was taken to hospital with a gash in the front of his neck after officers were called to Lord Street, Fleetwood.

Police arrived on the scene, outside the Royal Bank of Scotland, after reports of an alleged attack at 8.50pm on Friday.

A man was found with injuries which police believe may have been caused by a knife or knuckleduster.

Det Sgt Mark Dickinson of Blackpool CID said: “The male suffered quite extensive injuries. He had a cut to the front of his throat area.

“It happened outside the Royal Bank of Scotland.

“We will be keen to know if anyone witnessed the incident. Injuries suggest a weapon was used but CCTV is inconclusive.

“ He had a gash on the front of the neck. It looks like a weapon has been used, possibly a bladed article or knuckle duster.”

Police believe a mobile phone was taken in the incident.

n Scott Standring, 43, of Lord Street, Fleetwood, has been charged with robbery. He was remanded in custody to appear before Blackpool magistrates’ court today.
