Vandals told to clean off graffiti

VANDALS who put graffiti on Cleveleys' newly-revamped seafront have been made to clean it off again themselves.

The youngsters were caught on CCTV.

Although they were not charged with criminal damage they had to clear the wall of graffiti.

Wearing protective clothing and using jet washes and chemicals eight 12 to 15-year-olds cleared up the vandalism.

The culprits were traced after their names - written on the stone work - were recognised by a resident who contacted the police.

The protective gear worn by the youths was provided by Wyre Council and the chemicals donated by Fleetwood Marine Hall.

The promenade has recently been officially reopened after a major refurbishment.
