Tram Sunday Volunteers' Plea

PLANS are well underway for this year's Tram Sunday - but more volunteers are needed.

PLANS are well underway for this year's Tram Sunday - but more volunteers are needed.

Organisers say that although the big event has been saved from the brink of cancellation, more people are still needed to help with the running of it.

The event, whose official name is Fleetwood Transport Festival, will go ahead on Sunday July 15.

It was thought, earlier in the year, that it might not have gone ahead because of dwindling numbers of volunteers.

But a plea for help did produce four more committee members.

However more pairs of hands are needed.

The festival attracts thousands of people to Fleetwood every year and is a much needed boost for charities - many of them are able to raise vital funds by manning stalls at the festival.

Beyond 2007 it is hoped the event can continue in its current format but future plans will be considered after this year's festival is out of the way.

Any further volunteers wanting to help the festival this year should call (01253) 770601, e-mail info@fleetwoodtransportfestival. co.uk or call to see the event chairman Keith Yates at Fleetwood Computers on Lord Street.
