A Fleetwood youth club has submitted plans to improve its facilities.
Milton Youth and Community Centre, on Milton Street, is proposing a number of changes to its existing building, including the demolition of its existing garage to make way for mini bus parking spaces and the installation of CCTV.
The group is also looking to create a new gated entrance and an entrance canopy.
Francis Walton, district team leader at the youth centre, said: “The young people’s service is very pleased the county council has approved to put capital into the services.
“We are very pleased Wyre is getting a significant investment in the new centre.”
The community centre is currently Lancashire County Council’s main venue for young people in Wyre.
It boasts an information centre, runs regular activities for young people on an evening, and a number of projects for children with additional needs.
But at the moment, there are no parking spaces outside the building, leading to problems with parking in the surrounding area.
Coun Terry Rogers, Pharos ward councillor for Fleetwood Town Council, says the development will help alleviate some of the issues with parking.
He said: “This is to make the building fit for purpose because there are ongoing problems in Pharos ward and this needs to cater for everyone, so they can deliver the services they want.
“Some of the buildings are old and they need bringing up to date which gives people a chance to access them.
“There’s a need for parking because it causes a problem for residents in the area, so this is more than welcome.”
