Families struggling to make meals from scratch can benefit from a new scheme to learn how to put good home-cooked food on the table.
Called Cook and Eat Together, the project has been launched in Fleetwood in a bid to help families learn about healthy food and cooking it all on a budget.
Each programme runs for six weeks at the McKee Centre, in Poulton Road and, as well as cooking, it will give information about healthy food choices and other activities
The programme has been set up thanks to a £34,000 grant from Wyre Borough Council’s Shaping Your Neighbourhood Scheme.
A council spokeswoman said: “The course has a different theme each week, from The Italian Job to low sugar baking, and offers a chance to learn new skills and healthy eating tips to help maintain a healthy balanced diet in the future.
“Cook and Eat Together is open to families living in Fleetwood and children over five years of age are welcome to come along. It’s free to attend and the sessions are friendly and relaxed.”
Managed by N-Compass North West, the project received a grant of £34,642 from Wyre’s Shaping Your Neighbourhood scheme. It will use the kitchen facilities set up by Fleetwood Food Bank, which moved to the McKee Centre earlier this year.
