Pampering fund-raiser for Chloe

TEN-year-old Chloe New enjoyed a pamper day on Saturday to get her one step closer to surgery to help her walk.

Chloe and several of her pals from Shakespeare Primary School spent the day at Fleetwood beauty salon Halo, getting to grips with nail art.

The girls pampered customers at the Brook Street salon, painting their nails and raising a tidy £144 in the process.

Chloe’s mum, Angela, of Agnew Road said: “It went really well, the girls loved it.

“They brought their mums, friends and aunties along and there was a good response from other people who had seen the event advertised.”

Angela launched the Chloe’s Wish 2 Walk appeal for £45,000 in November to get her daughter to America for a specialist operation to help her walk unaided. And so far they have reached the £25,000 mark.

“Things are going so well that hopefully Chloe, who suffers from cerebral palsy, will be able to go to Missouri in May for the selective dorsal rhizotomy operation. She has to go to the States because she has not been successful for the surgery in this country.

Chole’s family are now confident she will be able to have the operation in May and be recovered in time to start high school in September.

“Hopefully we will have enough money to go to America in the spring.

“We will find out in March from the hospital whether or not Chloe has been selected to have the surgery sometime in May.

“We have asked for a date towards the end of the month to give Chloe chance to sit her SATs exams which are at the beginning of the month.

“Hopefully if it all works out Chloe will be back at school in time for the end of term in July. She is really hoping so because year six at Shakespeare always produce an end of term play and she desperately wants to take part!”

Chloe was born prematurely and had a bleed on her brain which caused her disability.

The operation involves the sectioning of some of the sensory nerve fibres that come from the muscles that enter the spinal cord.

She will need to be in America for four weeks and the money will pay for the operation, flights and accommodation and any money left over will go towards intense physiotherapy.

The next big fund-raiser is on February 5 at the Tramshed Theatre Group where Chloe attends. There will be several age groups performing a variety of stage works including signing and dancing, drama and a bushtucker trial.
