Celebrating his second birthday was a piece of cake for a history-making primate.

Moanda, a Western Lowland Gorilla, from Blackpool Zoo tucked into a specially made fruit and vegetable birthday cake with his mum Njema.

He is the first male Western Lowland Gorilla ever to be born at the zoo and his second birthday on Saturday was a real cause for celebration.

The zoo is home to more than 1,500 mammals, birds and reptiles, and Moanda took pride of place as he tucked into a cake made from his favourite fruit and vegetables.
