A judge has warned of the dangers of drugs after a man stole a bike after taking some.
Frank Laird believed he had been given painkiller tablets by a friend but he then stole a woman’s bicycle and rode off on it while under the influence.
Laird, unemployed, 36, of Bold Street, Fleetwood, pleaded guilty to theft.
He was given a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £15 compensation by District Judge Jeff Brailsford sitting at Blackpool Magistrates’ Court.
The judge warned: “It is dangerous to take street tablets.
“Don’t touch them with a barge pole. You do not know what is in them.”
The court heard that the tables were likely to have been some form of sedative.
