The sounds of the ukulele has helped boost funds for a children’s charity.

Members of Garstang Ukulele Group, who play once a month at The Tithe Barn, turned one of their entertainment nights as a fund-raiser for Great Ormond Street Hospital.

The well-packed out evening raised £1,100 for the charity, which provides vital treatment for terminally ill children.

Band member Bob Sapey, said: “The night went very well.

“We play at the Tithe Barn on the second Thursday of every month.

“We decided to turn March’s event into a fund-raiser for Great Ormond Street Hospital.

“It was organised by one of our members, Ron Freeland, whose two grandchildren had life saving treatment there. We are grateful to everyone who donated.”
