IN PICTURES: Chaucer pupils celebrate St George

Discovering the legend of St George and the Dragon brought a host of colourful activities at Chaucer Primary School just in time to celebrate the patron saint’s day.

Infant children have been reading the story of George and the Dragon, looking at legends and also finding out about dragons, both mythical and real ones.

Teacher Sarah Brooks said: “We had a visit from someone from Blackpool Zoo who brought bearded dragons for the children to see.

“Then on St George’s Day the children took part in role play, they made body armour, swords, shields, princess hats, St George’s Day cards and dragons.

“We also set up Playmobil castles for some small world play.

“The children really enjoyed themselves and know all about our patron saint and what St George’s Day means.”
