A FLEETWOOD woman whose greyhound was killed after a vicious attack by another dog is appealing to local people to help her campaign.

Jennifer Milnes, from Greenfield Road, Fleetwood, wants the offending black and white collie taken off the streets and action taken against the owner.

She says just one more complaint about it would lead to council action.

Mrs Milnes was walking her greyhound Ash on Fleetwood beach when he suffered horrific injuries after the unprovoked attack.

Despite undergoing life saving surgery he had to be put to sleep on June 6.

Mrs Milnes met with officers from Wyre Council in a bid to get something done, but she was told more evidence was needed.

Mrs Milnes is now appealing for people to come forward and support her cause and said: “This is not just about the death of one dog, it is a community issue for the people of Fleetwood. “This dog could attack again and next time it could be on a child.

“The officers gave full assurance that if just one more person complained of the behaviour of this dog they would take action against the owner.”

A Wyre spokeswoman said: “The council has sympathy with Mrs Milnes and has done everything it can to help, including five separate beach patrols, but unfortunately there is no solid evidence to identify the dog which is responsible.”
