Leukaemia remains one of the biggest killers of children in the UK.
Now a charity aimed at tackling the disease is launching an epic sponsored bike ride and is looking for cyclists from the Fleetwood and Wyre area to take part.
The Capital to Capital challenge, a three-day cycle ride from London to Paris, takes place in September this year.
It is being organised by Children with Leukaemia, a national charity dedicated to the conquest of childhood leukaemia through pioneering research, new treatment and support of leukaemic children and their families.
All participants in the ride will be raising funds exclusively for this charity.
Coordinator Yvonne Dugera said: “Our challenge events, particularly cycling, have grown over the past three years with the rise in popularity of cycling generally.
“We have therefore decided this a good time to launch our own cycling challenge.
“One of our primary objectives at Children with Leukaemia is to provide funding for pioneering research projects that look to establish the causes of childhood leukaemia, that improve and develop existing treatments and that look into finding ways of preventing the disease from happening.”
