Generous Fleetwood folk have helped the town’s Rotarians and Santa raise a whopping £2,000 for local families in need.

The cash was raised when Santa and Rotary members toured the streets of Fleetwood in a sleigh.

They provided plenty of festive cheer as they collected funds for food parcels for struggling Fleetwood residents. Fleetwood’s Rotarians say they all received a warm welcome as they travelled around the town and found local people to be extremely big-hearted,

Malcolm Lewis, of Fleetwood Rotary Club, said: “We would love to say a big thank you to all involved. To raise as much as two thousand pounds is brilliant but we could not have done it without that generous support. Since raising the money, we have been busy with Santa and his sleigh, collecting the food parcels and distributing them around the town.

“We’ve had family learning mentors from Fleetwood primary schools aiding in the distribution.”

Clare O’Connor, family learning mentor from Shakespeare Primary school and co-ordinator of the learning mentor group said: “The Rotary collection is invaluable in helping Fleetwood families.

“We’re grateful to everyone involved, including Fleetwood Rotary Club.”
