Waves may have battered Blackpool’s sea wall yesterday but the Fylde coast came away largely unscathed from a day of storm chaos elsewhere in the country.

Four people died after a storm lashed parts of southern Britain, bringing down trees and causing severe disruption to trains and flights.

But there was little effect on the Fylde coast as winds barely threatened to pick up beyond their usual speeds yesterday.

Lancashire Police, Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service and HM Coastguard reported no incidents or injuries in the area from Monday.
