MOTHER’S Day was not lost on Fleetwood’s Larkholme Primary School.
The school, on Windermere Avenue, held a Mother’s Day assembly last Friday and invited mums and nans of reception children in for the afternoon.
And there was quite a treat in store for the visitors!
The children, aged just four and five, had baked cakes and chocolate biscuits specially in the school.
They had also made cards and various gifts, and written poems.
Then the children acted out a stage play called “Are You My Mother?” and performed some Irish dancing.
The event was organised by the teachers of the school’s two reception classes, Jenny Hodgson and Jessica Warne, with help from teaching assistants Debbie Hind and Julie Johnson.
Mrs Hodgson said: “Parental involvement is very important at Larkholme and events like this give mums a chance to see what their children have been doing in school.
“We hold similar events to this at the end of each school term during the first year in reception, when mums and also dads are invited into the school.
“The events always prove popular with parents.”
Among the gifts made by the children were little sealed posies containing three stones, each with a kiss, a hug and a wish, and tied with a card bearing a message.
