Saturday is a big day for Fleetwood – but an even bigger one for Hannah Praed.
For Hannah , 12, of Larkholme Lane, will be crowned Carnival Queen 2015 as part of the day’s celebrations.
The Cardinal Allen pupil was selected for the special role back in March and has been looking forward to Carnival Day ever since.
She said: “I am really excited and honoured to be the queen.
“It’s a chance to represent the town and hopefully it will be a day I’ll always remember.”
And a special part of the big occasion will be the beautiful gown she will be wearing on the day.
The outfit – being kept safely under wraps until the big day – has been hand-made by Hannah’s mum, 44-year-old Jackie, and is dazzling white with a light blue train.
Hannah said: “I sat down with my mum and we looked at some of the dresses from previous years and thought about what would be most appropriate. It’s really lovely.”
Hannah will be joined by Catherine Hover as Prince Charming, Joseph Hover as page boy and princesses Helana and Rhianna Gleave and Summer and Eliesha Spore, all of whom will also be wearing pristine outfits for the big occasion.
The crowning of the Carnival Queen takes place at 10.45am and the judging of the fancy dress and floats takes place at 11.45am.
The parade moves off at 1pm and will follow a route from the Marine Hall, past the North Euston Hotel to Lord Street, along Poulton Street, Poulton Road, Carr Road and on to the Promenade and back to the Marine Hall.
Ann Hanvey, who co-ordinates the event, said: “We have had quite a few entries now and a few new ones too so we are hoping for a great procession – fingers crossed now for the weather!
“Thank you also to those who have volunteered to help, we have had a good response.”
A funday at the Marine Hall follows the parade.
