Traffic officers pulled over a van with Irish number plates earlier, and found it was a UK van reported stolen, police said.

The silver Ford Transit was inspected by road policing officers on the forecourt of the Shell garage in Preston New Road, Marton, earlier today.

It was stolen in June.

The van was seized, and its driver reported to the court for allegedly handling stolen goods, police said.
