Two arrested after police use stinger to stop stolen van

Two people have been arrested after a stolen van was stopped by police using a stinger in Bispham, say police.

Police used what they described as "preemptive tactics" to intercept the vehicle and avoid a police chase.

A police spokesman said: "Wherever possible we try to avoid police pursuits of suspected stolen vehicles. Two people were detained as a result of this morning's operation and they are currently in police custody."

The van was reported stolen on 23 February from a property in Lytham.
