A woman who was battered by her partner suffered a suspected broken nose, a judge was told.
Stephen Thornton, 50, of Ingthorpe Avenue, Bispham, pleaded guilty to assault causing actual bodily harm.
He would say there was a background to what took place. He maintains she struck him
Pam Smith, prosecuting, said Thornton subjected his partner to a sustained attack, punching her a number of times on January 30.
Kathryn Jamieson-Sinclair, defending, said: “He would say there was a background to what took place. He maintains she struck him. When interviewed he said he was desperately ashamed of himself.”
Thornton was bailed to appear for sentence at Preston Crown Court on March 2 by District Judge Jeff Brailsford at Blackpool Magistrates’ Court. He must not contact the complainant and must live at his given address.
