A man grabbed his wife’s best friend by the hair when they went to stay at her Fleetwood home.

Lee Winterbottam also pushed and pulled the friend after a row at the home in Kemp Street.

Winterbottam, a 43-year-old father-of-one, of Wellington Road North, Stockport, pleaded guilty to assault.

He was given a 12 months’ conditional discharge and ordered to pay the friend £50 compensation with £85 costs plus £15 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.

Prosecutor, Alison Quanbrough, said Winterbottam’s wife was so close to her Fleetwood friend that they called each other sister,
although they were not
related.

On June 29, while
Winterbottam and his wife were staying with the friend, the defendant got into a row with her.

He then attacked and assaulted the friend.

Alan Godwin, defending, said the relationship between Winterbottam and the friend had never been good. Winterbottam said the victim taunted him and was verbally abusive, so he lost his temper.
