A man has made his first court appearance accused of slashing a flat mate across the face with a knife.

The victim had to have 27 stitches inserted in the wound, Blackpool Magistrates were told.

Before the court charged with wounding on Friday night was 34-year-old John Rainey, of Luton Road, Cleveleys.

Don Green, prosecuting, alleged that Rainey had used a Swiss army knife to wound Lewis.

Rainey will appear at Preston Crown Court on November 16.

He was bailed to an address in Preston and must not enter Blackpool as a condition of his bail.
