Fleetwood Town FC raid accused in court

Four men accused of breaking into Fleetwood Town FC and stealing thousands of pounds of items have appeared in court.

Stephen Sumner and Paul Palin admitted breaking into the club, based in Highbury Avenue, at Preston Crown Court.

Prosecutors said the duo entered the premises on January 27, this year and helped themselves to £16,000 of electrical items, a safe and cash.

Sumner, 28, of Chatsworth Avenue, Fleetwood and Paul Palin, of Derby Street, Blackburn admitted one charge of burglary.

Their two co-defendants Paul Stafford, 24, of Brathay Place, Fleetwood and Benjamin O’Connor, 20, of Cocker Street, Blackpool denied being involved.

The court heard the pair pleaded not guilty to one charge of burglary.

The case was adjourned to February 17, where the duo will face trial.

Palin, Stafford and O’Connor were all granted bail.

Sumner, who is currently serving a 40 month sentence for drug supply, was remanded in to custody.
