Fleetwood: From the courts 30-03-16

Callum Fyall, 24, of Coniston Avenue, Fleetwood, pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly.

He was fined £120 with £85 costs and ordered to pay £20 victims’ surcharge by District Judge David Purcell sitting at Blackpool Magistrates’ Court.

Malcolm Isherwood, prosecuting, said police saw doorstaff at the resort’s Revolution Bar having trouble ejecting Fyall on February 21, so officers escorted him over the road.

He pulled away and started swearing.

He was told to stop and behave, but he would not comply so he was taken to the ground and arrested.

Fyall told the judge: “It was very embarrassing to listen to that. There is no excuse. I’m sorry.”

A charity collector stole cash destined for veteran servicemen and woman from the armed forces.

Phil Marlow was seen using collection buckets without a security seal on them and at the end of the day pouring money out of the buckets to keep for himself.

Marlow, 28, of Denville Avenue, Thornton, denied stealing £400 but was found guilty of the offence after a trial in his absence.

He was sentenced to a 12 months community order with up to 15 days rehabilitation to be supervised by the probation service, put on a 10 weeks tagged curfew from 7pm to 5am and ordered to pay £400 compensation by District Judge Rod Ross sitting at Blackpool Magistrates’ Court.

Chrissie Hunt, prosecuting, said Marlow worked for a non-profit making company which collected cash for the Veterans Trust Limited.

He and other collectors were sent to various areas of the country to do their jobs and put up in hotels.

Between December 8 and 10 last year he was working in Huddersfield and staying in a Travel Lodge hotel.

He was spotted using a collection bucket without a security seal on it, emptying the contents onto his hotel bed and pocketing cash at night.

When questioned by the manager of the company he worked for Marlow said he had won the money at a casino.

Interviewed by police he said: “There’s no proof the money was from the buckets.”

David Charnley, defending, said his client, who had no previous convictions for dishonesty, missed the trial because he thought its date had been changed.

n A man has pleaded not guilty to driving while more than three times over the alcohol limit.

Christopher Ethell, 34, of Merlyn Road, Thornton, had his case adjourned to April 21 for trial by Blackpool magistrates.

A 29-year old Fleetwood man has denied drink driving.

The trial of Jason Mark Foster of Hollywood Grove will take place on May 17.

He denies the offence alleged to have taken place on January 3 in Fleetwood.

Blackpool Magistrates agreed to adjourn the hearing so that Foster can submit a medical defence.

A 48-year old Fleetwood man has denied assaulting his partner at their home.

Robert Mark Sumner of Hatfield Avenue is alleged to have assaulted Simone McMinn on March 12 at Lancaster Gate, Fleetwood.

Sumner was bailed until his trial on May 10 on condition he does not contact the complainant or enter Lancaster Gate.

A man took revenge when he found out his former partner was now going out with his cousin.

Lee Valente went round to her house and when he found the cousin was on the premises lost his temper, Blackpool Magistrates heard.

Valente of London Street,Fleetwood admitted criminal damage to the woman’s front door to the value of £300. He kicked in the door from its hinges when his ex partner refused to come outside. The incident also caused £200 damage. Magistrates adjourned sentence on Valente for reports.
